Fixed orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment with fixed devices is now less proposed in place of the invisible solution largely preferred by patients for its aesthetic and comfort characteristics.

There are, at the clinician’s discretion, some complex cases in which the fixed hypothesis is useful and necessary to obtain dental movements that would otherwise be difficult to achieve. Sometimes fixed orthodontics can be combined to support treatment with invisible aligners.

Fixed appliances and types of attachments

Fixed braces generally consist of brackets, which are glued directly to the teeth using adhesive resins.
The attachments can be different in types and shapes and are made of steel or white materials which make them more aesthetically pleasing.
Based on the type of treatment, the orthodontist advises the patient on the most appropriate type of brackets for that specific treatment.
